The women’s support group continues to serve as a source of strength and support among its members. And, as the facilitator, I continue to feel fortunate and humbled by the opportunity to lead this group. There is a quote I was recently reminded of by C.S. Lewis on the topic friendship, and it reminds me of what takes place in group each cycle, and indeed each week, without fail. In Four Loves, he writes:

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”

Over and over, women come together each week of differing backgrounds, ethnicities, and interests and find comfort in and from one another. How? They are able to “hear” each other in ways no one else has due to the fact that they are all experiencing a common loss – the loss of the expectation of how becoming a parent would play out. And they, do, indeed, become friends of a sort they never had, bound by this common struggle.

Over the next few months, I will be on medical leave, but have arranged for a very seasoned group worker, Ronnie Glassman, DSW, LCSW, to take my place until the summer. Please continue to feel free to reach out to me to hear more about the group and the way it has been structured for now over 2 years. I will be happy to connect you to Ronnie.

Whether you feel already this is the group for you, or are curious as to whether it would be helpful, please feel free to reach out to hear more and even come to a session free of charge. We look forward to meeting you. The next cycle begins on Monday, March 10th at 6:30PM. You are welcome to join us.
